For more information call: (518) 747-3421 September 2006 The Little Theater on the Farm, Inc is a non-profit corporation that has taken on the task of converting a 1840’s barn into a theater. The opening is scheduled for May of 2007. An Open House will be held on Saturday, October 7th 2006 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. so that the comunity can see the progress and join in the enthusiasm for this project! The Theater will also be open on Friday 10/6 from 6-8PM if you can't make it Saturday. July 2006 During the winter and early spring our volunteer source for labor worked out very nicely. The Washington County Alternative Sentencing Program provided up to 8 young men at least once a week. Once the good weather came, they concentrated on roadsides and cemetery cleanup. This has slowed the progress greatly and now we are scheduled to open in the Spring of 2007 instead of September of this year. We have made the decision to have the place nearly finished before opening. We will hold an Open House in September with live entertainment. Right now, July 2006, we are constructing the area between the barn and the theater where the entrance to the theater will go and the restrooms will be built. The1000 gallon holding tank for the bathrooms is in place and paid for. The floor joists are going in and as soon as the sub-flooring is in place we can partition off the bathrooms and proceed. The ‘Photos’ section shows the interior progress. The rest of the chairs have had their three coats of polyurethane and are awaiting placement. We have the curtain material and the cable for the grand drape will be put in place and the curtains made and hung. Very large professional speakers were donated by Michael Egan and will be hung above the stage in the rafters. They will only be used for concerts. The acoustics are great in the theater and amplification will not be need for dramatic productions. Our fundraising has begun. We raised $540 with the coin toss in June and another $40 with the jars for donations around town. That was not a financial success, but the exposure was good. We received a $500 donation from Dick Hermans and $150 from Paul Breton. Linda Hermans continues to be the backbone of the finances and has donated $17,000 since the start of the project. We are preparing a brochure and will be contacting businesses and friends of the theater for donations. If you would like to make a donation please go the Contact section of this site for further information. Thank you. September, 2005- We are preparing to pour the footings and floor inside the theater. Volunteers are welcome! No experience necessary. There is always something to be done. Call before you come.
